Mercedes-Benz 280 SL (W113)

This beautiful 280 SL Pagoda was delivered on 31 March 1969. According to the data sheet, it already featured its current colour scheme – 728 Beige Grey Metallic – combined with a cognac-coloured interior. The data sheet also indicates that the vehicle is still fitted with its original engine and gearbox combination.

Although there is no ownership documentation for the first few decades of the vehicle’s life, its history has been fully documented for the past 25 years.

The vehicle underwent extensive restoration between 1999 and 2001. The former owner has provided a very detailed description of the restoration work carried out at various workshops around Lake Constance, complete with photographs. This was essentially a full restoration. Upon completion of the restoration, the vehicle was registered in Austria in 2001.

The vehicle was purchased from the then owner by none other than former Formula 1 racing driver Ralf Schumacher, who was also resident in Austria at the time. An expert report from 2009 exists, issued in the name of the then owner, Schumacher.

Schumacher sold the Pagode in 2012 to a German dealer, who then resold the vehicle to a customer in the Stuttgart region. Ten years later, the current owner purchased the vehicle and added it to his collection.

Thanks to various expert reports, MOT certificates and the old Austrian and German registration documents, the vehicle’s history since restoration is fully documented and verifiable.
