In 2026, Stuttgart celebrates a very special double anniversary: both Liederhalle Stuttgart and the SWR Fernsehturm Stuttgart are marking 70 years of history. A highlight of the anniversary year is the classic car star drive on Sunday, 13 September 2026, held in conjunction with the German Open Monument Day.
Participants with vehicles over 50 years old (up to and including model year 1976) can apply for one of the highly sought-after, limited starting places and become part of this unique journey through time. The star drive begins at the SWR Fernsehturm Stuttgart, where participants meet in a relaxed atmosphere and have the opportunity to visit the tower museum with insights into the history of this iconic landmark. A carefully planned route then leads through selected parts of Stuttgart to Liederhalle Stuttgart. There, the historic vehicles will be welcomed on a presentation ramp and subsequently exhibited. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the classic cars up close, take part in guided tours and exhibitions, and enjoy the diverse anniversary programme.
The star drive connects automotive and architectural history, movement and encounter, bringing the double anniversary to life for both participants and visitors alike. The event is organised by SML CarGroup on behalf of Liederhalle Stuttgartand the SWR Fernsehturm Stuttgart.
